Hearing her grandchild's voice for the first time
Shortly after her implant was activated, Laurie was in her doctor's office waiting for a follow-up. A woman walked into the room with a little boy. The child spoke to his mother in what Laurie says was the sweetest voice she had ever heard.
At that moment, Laurie knew how much she had missed with her own four children. She had never heard their young voices.
After 46 years, Laurie cherishes the melody of another child's voice—her grandson.
