Tell us a bit about yourself

Hello! My name is Breanne, and my hearing loss journey began when I was born. I have a severe to profound hearing loss in both ears. I was implanted with my first and only cochlear implant when I was two-years old. My primary language is English, but I do have a limited knowledge of American Sign Language. These days I’m currently taking up Italian to eventually gain fluency. During my 9 to 5 (cue the Dolly Parton™* song), I work in HR recruiting. Cycling is a part of my regular routine; I can’t go without my Peloton** classes. I’m also adding in tennis to my repertoire these days. Aside from that, I love my long walks with my puppy and enjoy hiking every now and then as well. I have plenty of years of dance under my belt and have received my black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Music is a big part of my life; I love jamming out in the car and singing my heart out along with the music. Traveling is another core part of my life, I’m either planning a trip or on a trip. To date, I’ve been to 25 countries and 31 states. When I don’t have my nose in a book, I love whipping up baked goods or going on a date night with my husband or on an adventure with friends and family.

I wouldn’t change having my cochlear implant for the world, as it’s the best gift I’ve ever been given. Being deaf certainly impacts your everyday life in a myriad of ways, but my cochlear implant helps ease that burden. I’ve been successful on my hearing journey for almost 30 years now and look forward to sharing with you what I love about having my cochlear implant! As a volunteer, I aim to provide a listening ear, guidance, support, and education. I look forward to meeting you!
