What usually happens on fitting day?

The hearing health professional will explain how the sound processor works and may fine tune the sound processor settings.

This process may start by listening to a series of beeps, followed by the voice of the hearing health professional or any potential loved one attending the appointment.

The brain may need time to adjust to this new hearing, therefore, some sounds may be immediately recognizable, others not.

After the sound processor is activated

After the initial activation of the sound processor, several appointments with a hearing health professional may be necessary for fine-tuning and might form part of the rehabilitation process.

Some sounds may be perceived louder than others, and it is recommended to let the hearing health professional know if they are uncomfortable.

It's also advisable to follow the sound processor's guidelines for care and maintenance.

Rehabilitation plays an important role in hearing results with a device. That's why it may be useful to practice listening and speaking as much as possible.
